“Ala Ivie is a marvel! A gifted choreographer; a committed performer; and a spirited teacher. She is a joy and a delight to work with, and I plan to do just that over and over again!”
- Elizabeth Hansen, Executive Director ofUtah Lyric Opera.
.
"Ale Ivie not only has a lovely and expressive voice, but a willingness to work hard to achieve her own, and any director's, vision of a character or musical. She is teachable, so she understands inherently how to teach. She learns quickly, yet she is patient with herself and with the instruction of others. Her musicianship is first rate. She has been a joy to work with; cheerful, intense, demanding of herself with high expectation for herself and others she works with, and the emotion she can express through her voice is amazing."
- C. Michael Perry, Composer, Director
"'Miss Ala' is an amazing voice teacher! I was able to do the things she asked me to do and I felt a voice developing. I was taking lessons for fun, not thinking she could do anything with my voice. I was so surprised when my voice became stronger and I was sounding pretty good, for someone who is not a singer. I recommend 'Miss Ala' as highly as possible! She is fun, she loves singing and she is an excellent teacher."
- Terry Stewart, Former Student
"'Being directed by Ala felt like such an honor because of the reverence she gives to singing. She not only taught me how to sing better but she strengthened my spirit and brought a new confidence to my singing I had never experienced before. I feel like it has changed my confidence in singing forever."
- Blaire Watanabe, Former Student
"Ala was my voice teacher while I was a student at Discover Academy, a therapeutic boarding school in Provo, UT. Her work with me not only helped me loosen up vocally, but she was very adamant about musical interpretative details being present in the repertoire at all times. Our work together ultimately introduced me to the scholastic and artistic mindset one needs in order to be successful. Ala is also a very dedicated teacher who goes the extra mile for her students. She came to the treatment center where I was living to teach me, and even lent me some of her personal copies of books on music, as there were no artistic resources available at the center. I ended up being accepted into several top schools and, in 2017, I earned a degree in voice from Boston Conservatory. Ala is equally a great teacher, mentor and friend."
- William Hurwitz, Former Student and BoCo Graduate
